The Michelin Guide in Da Nang: Every Star, Green Star and Bib Gourmand, With Prices

Michelin Guide Đà Nẵng44+ entries in 2026Bib Gourmand dishes 25,000–70,000₫One Star · Vietnam's first Green Star

Quick answer
WORTH IT Yes — and the point is not the Star, it is that almost the whole list costs under three dollars

Da Nang entered the Michelin Guide in June 2024 with 36 entries, grew to about 40 in 2025 and 44+ in 2026. There is one Star — La Maison 1888 at the InterContinental, French haute cuisine under Christian Le Squer, dinner only, tasting menus from about 6,000,000₫ (~$235). There is one Green Star — Nén, the first awarded anywhere in Vietnam, held since 2024. And then there are 23 Bib Gourmands across the three lists plus a long Selected roll. Here is the punchline: strip out those two restaurants and what remains is a list of noodle stalls, alley shops and market kitchens where a dish costs 25,000–70,000₫ — one to three dollars. That is the entire argument for eating in this city.

What the awards mean

A Bib Gourmand in Vietnam is a promise about the price, not the tablecloth

If you read a Michelin listing as a signal to dress up and book ahead, you will misread this entire city.

Michelin has four things it can give a restaurant, and in Da Nang three of them are in play. Stars are for cooking, and there is exactly one: La Maison 1888. The Green Star is a separate award for sustainability, and Da Nang holds Vietnam's first. Bib Gourmand is the value award — good cooking at a modest price — and it is the one that matters here. Selected (the plain fork-and-spoon listing) means the inspectors ate there and thought it was worth recording.

What a Bib Gourmand looks like in Da Nang: a shop on Nguyễn Chí Thanh selling one kind of fish-cake soup from 06:00 until it runs out, at 15,000–45,000₫ a bowl. Or a jellyfish mì Quảng specialist on Lê Hồng Phong that is empty of jellyfish by 13:00. These are not restaurants in the sense the word usually implies. Several have no menu, no English and no card machine, and the award did not change any of that.

What it did change is the queue. The clearest effect of the guide's arrival has been the Michelin halo: Korean and Taiwanese tour groups now form outside Bib shops that had never seen an organised group in fifty years of trading. Bún Chả Cá 109 is the standard example — it is the tourist-famous one, while the locals walk a hundred metres up the same street to Hờn, which holds an identical Bib.

Practical consequences. Go early rather than at the obvious hour. Carry cash. And do not save a Bib shop for dinner: most of this list is breakfast and lunch food, and the pots are empty long before the evening.

Twenty-three shops. This is the list to actually eat from, and the one that makes the case for the city. Where we know the dish and its going rate, the price column says so; where the guide lists a name we could not price from a reliable source, it says that instead rather than guessing.

Lists checked August 2026: 16 Bib Gourmands in the launch list of June 2024, four added in 2025, three added in 2026. Where a shop's speciality or price is not documented in a source we trust, this table says so rather than inventing one — the safe assumption is that it sits inside the 25,000–70,000₫ band, because that is what a Bib Gourmand means in Vietnam. Cash at essentially all of them.

The Selected roll published for Da Nang is partial and moves between editions; the entries above are the ones confirmed at August 2026. Selected is not a lesser Bib Gourmand — it is a different thing entirely, meaning the inspectors ate there and recorded it without making a value judgement about the price.

The top of the list

One Star, and Vietnam's first Green Star

Two restaurants, two completely different arguments, and one of them you should not go looking for on a street map.

La Maison 1888 — One Michelin Star. Inside the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on Sơn Trà, and it has held its Star three years running. French haute cuisine under Christian Le Squer, the three-star chef of Le Cinq in Paris, in a room designed as an imagined 19th-century French mansion. Dinner only, and tasting menus from about 6,000,000₫ (~$235) a head before wine. It is a resort restaurant on a peninsula, so factor a taxi each way from the city — see the Son Tra page for the geography.

Nén — Michelin Green Star. The more interesting of the two, and the more Da Nang. Nén took Vietnam's first ever Green Star in 2024 and has retained it through 2026, awarded for sustainability rather than for cooking. Chef Summer Lê runs a “Sợi & Chuyện” storytelling tasting menu that is 99% hyper-local, with a good share of it grown on the restaurant's own farm. Expect roughly 1,000,000–1,600,000₫ (~$39–63), which for a tasting menu of this ambition is remarkable.

One important caveat about Nén, and it is why this page does not print an address. The restaurant relocated, and the address given in sources conflicts. Rather than send you to a closed door, we are naming the restaurant and the award and leaving the location to the people who actually know it: check the restaurant's own website before you book. Any guide confidently printing a street number for Nén in 2026 is copying an older one.

Beyond the guide, the fine-dining tier is being built out fast: The Temptation at 125 Hồ Nghinh, Le Comptoir at 16 Chế Lan Viên, Madame Lân on the riverside, and a Nobu in the pipeline attached to a tower development. Whether that is progress or the beginning of the end depends on which Reddit thread you read.

What actually needs booking, and what does not

Nothing on the Bib Gourmand list takes reservations, and turning up early beats any booking you could make. The two ends of the guide that genuinely need planning are the Star and the Green Star, and both are booked directly with the restaurant rather than through a reseller — so what is worth buying is transport, comparison and the cooking that gets you closer to the rest.

Michelin in Da Nang FAQ

How many Michelin restaurants does Da Nang have?

44 or more in 2026, up from 36 when the guide launched in the city in June 2024 and about 40 in 2025. That total covers one Star, one Green Star, 23 Bib Gourmands and a Selected list. The overwhelming majority are street shops and neighbourhood restaurants charging 25,000–70,000₫ a dish.

Which Da Nang restaurant has a Michelin Star?

La Maison 1888, inside the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on the Son Tra peninsula. It has held one Star for three consecutive years. French haute cuisine under Christian Le Squer, dinner only, with tasting menus from about 6,000,000₫ — roughly $235 a head before wine.

What is Nén and where is it?

Nén holds the first Michelin Green Star ever awarded in Vietnam, given in 2024 and retained through 2026 for a 99% hyper-local menu partly grown on its own farm. Chef Summer Lê runs the “Sợi & Chuyện” storytelling tasting menu at roughly 1,000,000–1,600,000₫. The restaurant has relocated and the address given in different sources conflicts, so check the restaurant's own website rather than a guide.

What does Bib Gourmand mean in Vietnam?

Good cooking at a modest price — it is the value award, not a lesser Star. In Da Nang that translates to single-dish shops selling a bowl for 25,000–70,000₫, often with no menu, no English and no card machine. Twenty-three Da Nang restaurants hold one across the 2024, 2025 and 2026 lists.

Which Bib Gourmand should I eat at first?

Bún Chả Cá 109 on Nguyễn Chí Thanh if you are up before 10:00 — it is the easiest of them for a first-time visitor. Mỳ Quảng Sứa Hồng Vân at 59C Lê Hồng Phong for the most distinctive bowl in the city, but be there before 13:00. Bánh Xèo 76 at 85A Lê Văn Hưu for the best dinner of the three.

Do you need to book Michelin restaurants in Da Nang?

Not for the Bib Gourmand list — none of them take reservations, and arriving early matters far more than a booking would. La Maison 1888 and Nén both need booking directly with the restaurant, and La Maison 1888 is dinner only. Neither is sold through the usual tour resellers.

Has the Michelin Guide changed prices in Da Nang?

Not meaningfully at the listed shops, which is the point of a Bib Gourmand. What has changed is the queue: Korean and Taiwanese tour groups now form outside shops that had never seen one, and the sell-out times have moved earlier. Go before the obvious hour rather than at it.

Are there vegetarian Michelin restaurants in Da Nang?

Two Bib Gourmands: Ngọc Chi at 202 Hoàng Diệu, listed in 2024 and old-school Buddhist chay, and Shamballa at 277 Trần Hưng Đạo, added in 2025 and vegan, where the vegan phở is the order. Both charge 15,000–35,000₫ for a rice plate.
