Da Nang Night Markets: Which Ones Are Open and Which One Closed
Da Nang's night-market scene is smaller than its reputation and one of its headline venues no longer exists. Sơn Trà Night Market, on Mai Hắc Đế at the eastern end of the Dragon Bridge, runs roughly 18:00 to midnight with grilled seafood at 50,000–120,000₫, and is the tourist default — worth an hour before the 21:00 weekend fire show, not a destination in itself. Helio Night Market has been suspended since 5 September 2025 and is still listed as open across most of the internet. The one that closed, and why it matters for everything else you read
Two of the attractions still listed on most Da Nang guides do not exist any more. Da Nang Downtown — the old Asia Park, with the Sun Wheel — closed permanently on 3 September 2025 and is being demolished for a 70-storey tower. Helio Center and its night market have been suspended since 5 September 2025 for renovation, with only the Metiz cinema still running. If a guide is recommending either, it has not been updated in a year and you should not trust its prices either.

What that leaves is a genuinely thinner night scene than the marketing suggests — one main tourist market, a riverside walking street, a shopping street and two local food markets. That is not a disaster: this city's food is best in daytime markets and neighbourhood alleys anyway, and its most reliable evening event is a free five-minute fire show. Set expectations accordingly and the nights work.

Son Tra Night Market — the tourist default
At the eastern end of the Dragon Bridge, which is its real advantage: it is a hundred metres from the best free view of the 21:00 fire show. Grilled seafood, skewers, snacks, lanterns and souvenir stalls, with plates at 50,000–120,000₫. Prices are tourist prices and the souvenirs are the usual, but the seafood is decent and it fills an hour before the show properly. Agree the price before anything goes on the grill.
Con Market, evenings — where the food actually is
Not a night market, but it runs into the evening and it is where you should be eating. The hawker alley inside Con Market is the best concentrated food hall in Da Nang — bún mắm nêm, bánh bèo, chè, ốc — at 15,000–50,000₫ a dish, peaking between 15:00 and 19:00 and running to about 22:00. Bach Dang riverside walking street
The newer pedestrianised stretch of the Bach Dang riverfront in Hai Chau, part of the city's deliberate push to build a night economy after the Asia Park closure. Stalls, street performers and cafés along the promenade, with the bridges lit behind them. Pleasant, free, and best combined with a river cruise or the walk to the Dragon Bridge.
Le Duan evening shopping street
Da Nang's main shopping street after dark, aimed squarely at local shoppers: clothing, accessories, phone shops and street snacks rather than souvenirs. Cheap, busy and entirely uninterested in tourists, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on why you came.
Hoa Khanh night market — student prices
Out in the university district of Lien Chieu, and priced for students, which makes it the cheapest food in Da Nang. Clothes, snacks and grilled everything. It is a long way north-west of the tourist strip and nobody speaks English — go for the prices and the ordinariness, not for an evening out.
Helio Night Market — suspended
Closed. Helio Center and its night market have been suspended since 5 September 2025 for renovation, with only the Metiz cinema still operating, and there is no confirmed reopening date. It is still recommended in a large share of the guides ranking for Da Nang, which tells you how current the rest of their information is.
Seafood at a night market is priced the same way it is on the beach strip
The seafood stalls at Son Tra work on the same model as the Vo Nguyen Giap barns: you point, it gets weighed, you pick a preparation, and a cooking fee is added. That is fine when everyone agrees the terms first and expensive when they do not.
Four questions, asked before anything is cooked: is that price per kilo or per 100 grams, what is the cooking fee per dish, can I see the scale, and what does the total come to. Order about 70% of what you think you want. Plates here should land at 50,000–120,000₫; a bill that lands at three times that is a bill built out of assumptions you did not check.
Use Grab or Xanh SM, never a street-hailed taxi. Rigged, fast-ticking meters around Han Market and the airport rank are the one scam that comes up in every single forum thread about this city. Both apps quote the fare before you get in: GrabBike runs 20,000–35,000₫ for a 5km hop, GrabCar 60,000–90,000₫. Xanh SM is the electric VinFast fleet, priced at or below Grab and consistently better reviewed. Vinasun and Mai Linh are the two metered brands worth flagging on the street if you have no data.
Getting away after the weekend fire show is the other trap: the whole quarter jams for about twenty minutes at 21:05. Eat first, watch the show, then sit down again for twenty minutes rather than standing in the road with an app open.
