Mikazuki Water Park and Onsen: The Best Wet-Weather Day in Da Nang
Mikazuki is a Japanese-run resort on the north-west bay, about 10km from the centre, and the reason to care about it is that its water park is under a dome and its onsen is a real one. Both run year-round, regardless of the weather. Entry is 350,000₫ adult and 170,000₫ child on a weekday, 400,000₫ and 250,000₫ at the weekend — roughly $14 to $16 — and the onsen is included in that price. Weekday hours are 09:00–22:00. In a city where the sea is red-flagged from October to December and October alone drops 650mm of rain, an indoor water park that never cancels is not a novelty. It is the plan.

A dome full of slides, and a bathing complex that takes itself seriously
Two facilities, one ticket, and they are aimed at completely different halves of a family.
The water park is indoors, under a dome, with wave and activity pools, slides and shallow areas for small children. That single architectural decision is the whole proposition: this is the only substantial water attraction on this coast that does not close, empty out or become miserable when it rains, and it is climate-controlled in the June to August heat when outdoor play is genuinely unpleasant between 11:00 and 15:00.
The onsen is a real Japanese bathing complex, included in the entry price, with a series of hot pools at different temperatures. It runs on Japanese rules, which surprise people who have not done this before: you wash thoroughly at the seated showers before entering any pool, no swimwear in the traditional baths, no towels in the water, tie long hair up, keep your voice down, and be aware that visible tattoos are treated variously in Japanese-style facilities — worth asking at reception rather than at the pool edge.
Getting there is the one friction point. It is about 10km north-west of the centre on the bay coast, which is 20 to 25 minutes and 120,000–180,000₫ by GrabCar from the beach strip — the wrong direction from everything else you are likely to be doing. Fold it into a day, not into an afternoon between two other things. Anything you buy in advance should be judged against those numbers — a reseller here is buying you a fixed price and, if you are lucky, a transfer, because the site is 10km out and awkward to reach on a wet afternoon.
